Surely I felt like the movie was a must-see in my book (pun intended) and I wasn't disappointed. I liked the movie. It was very good entertainment I think. I was actually BBM'ing my girl friend who is currently in The States as we speak and she thought it was well overrated. I agree that the movie probably wouldn't be as hyped as it is if the central story wasn't about Facebook and the creators. The storyline isn't especially groundbreaking about two friends having an idea to built a company/website to get rich and famous. Afterwards it's all about betrayal, feeding your own ego and getting blinded by fame and money, lawsuits and the drama that comes with it. Basically not anything you haven't seen before.
However, the things that give the movie it's edge and finesse, is the dialogue, the editing and of course the acting. Like I wrote in my earlier post I was very confident in Jesse Eisenberg's abilities as an actor and guess what? He nailed the lead role as Mark Zuckerberg even though I have no idea whatsoever if Zuckerberg ever acted or talked like that in real life. I have never even seen a clip of Zuckerberg speak or how he dresses but Eisenberg's acting was fierce. He wasn't the only one acting his butt off. Andrew Garfield was doing an amazing job too as his friend and co-founder of Facebook, Eduardo Saverin. Timberlake stars as Sean Parker and his part in Facebook was interesting since this was a bit of information I had never heard anything about. I guess you'll have to watch the film yourself if you want to know more.
Armie Hammer who played the Winklevoss twins and Max Minghella who played Divya Narendra also did an excellent job and the part written for the twins served as a great comic relief in the movie as well. I had numerous laughs throughout the movie when it came to the way the twins were portrayed.
The real life Winklevoss twins and Divya Narendra. The director David Fincher and also writer Aaron Sorkin did great things with the film as well. The whole opening sequence and the atmosphere in those very first minutes were intense and the dialogue was incredible as well. There are also other memorable scenes with exceptional dialogues especially during the two different lawsuits taking place in the movie. The first one between Zuckerberg vs Saverin and the other one between Zuckerberg vs Winklevoss twins and Narendra.
I can recommend the movie for all the good things I have mentioned here and I do like the movie a lot but still I feel that it's also very much hyped because it is The Facebook movie but definitely an enjoyable watch for anyone who appreciates great acting, nicely written scenes and intelligent dialogue.
