Obviously the whole idea about getting expensive designer clothing for a much cheaper price has been working amazingly for H&M in recent years. From Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, Rei Kawakubo and now to the fashion house that is Lanvin.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with H&M at all. It's really not the cheapest stuff you can find even though they still have pretty cheap items all year around but the quality is not something you can expect will last you a life time but then again with those relatively cheap prices and mass produced items I guess you should know what you're investing in, right?
H&M is probably the best alternative outhere for basic items.
Every time H&M has done these collabs with high end designers, I always seem to hear about people lining up from the early morning and basically all the good items will be ripped away in no time so I'm sure the profits gained from this recipe is something that works for both companies.
However, I don't seem to be seeing anything absolutely mindblowing from these collabs that I would label as "Must-have" items.
Obviously joining forces with H&M and for what has to be moderated into H&M prices as well, Lanvin will have to downgrade their items into worse quality items while I'm sure H&M will increase their prices for these limited Lanvin products.
Again, after seeing the items for the mens collection, I am not blown away by any of the items. I mean, come on! Take a look at the hoodie or the more than casual cardigans. Just a minor patch or maybe a shawl collar or some leather buttons would have made them soooo much more interesting to me.
I think both the blue blazers and the coat could look great on me. Maybe the shades, the red and purple bowties could work too but I'm sure I would rather spend more money on something I already know is pure quality rather than just settling for what could have been.
Anyway, the new H&M collaboration will be released tomorrow morning at 8 am in Copenhagen and I'm pretty sure there will be lines from early on and I probably won't be seeing or feeling these clothes in my own hands by the time I decide to get my ass down to H&M. Well, let's watch the sales go up the roof again for H&M and the quality of yet another designer brand go down.
